The short answer

You can make a website for your jewelry business for free, or for $15 to $39 a month. Square Online's free plan costs nothing a month and takes 3.3% + 30¢ from each card payment. Big Cartel is $15 a month, Squarespace Basic $25 and Shopify Basic $39. Price your pieces first, so every price you post covers your time.

What does a jewelry website need?

A website can sound like a big project. For a jewelry business it can be small, and you can start with a few pieces.

A jewelry website needs five things:

  • Clear photos of each piece, on plain light backgrounds.
  • A price on each piece that covers your materials, your time and the fees.
  • A way to buy: a checkout, or a button to ask you to order.
  • How you ship, how long it takes, and your returns policy.
  • A web address you can print on your cards and your market table sign.

You don't need many pages. A home page with your pieces, an "about" line and your policies is enough to start.

What does a website for a jewelry business cost?

Prices change often, and every platform shows them differently. Here is what each one asked on the day we checked.

What a website costs on each platform, read on October 25, 2026. Card payments always carry a processing fee as well.
PlatformEach monthOn each sale
Square Online, free plan$03.3% + 30¢ per card payment
Big Cartel Platinum$15 after a 7-day trialYour payment provider's fee
Squarespace Basic$252%, plus card processing
Shopify Basic$39Card processing

Square's paid plan, Plus, is $49 a month, with 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment. Big Cartel's Diamond plan is $30 a month. Paying yearly costs less on Squarespace and Shopify.

Check each one's own page before you choose: Square Online, Big Cartel, Squarespace. Shopify's price is from Style Factory's review, because its own page showed another currency where we read it.

Should I keep my Etsy shop?

Leaving Etsy can feel risky, because that's where buyers already look. You don't have to choose one.

Etsy brings people who are searching. On a $25 sale, it takes $2.83, or 11.3% of the price. A website brings no shoppers by itself. It works best for people who already know you: market customers, Instagram followers and repeat buyers.

Some makers keep both. They list on Etsy to be found, and send people they meet to their own website. The Etsy fees guide shows every fee line by line.

How do I set up my jewelry website?

It's easier in a set order, so you don't redo photos or prices later. Here is one order that works.

  1. Price each piece first. The free pricing calculator counts your materials, your time and the fees.
  2. Take photos in daylight, on one plain background, from the same angle each time.
  3. Write your shipping time, your shipping price and your returns policy.
  4. Pick a platform that fits how many pieces you sell, and start with your best few.
  5. Put your web address on your cards, your table sign and your Instagram bio.

Common jewelry website mistakes

These are easy to miss when you're excited to go live. Each one is quick to fix.

  • Copying your market prices without counting the card and platform fees.
  • Paying for a big plan before you know how many pieces sell online.
  • Photos on busy backgrounds, so the jewelry is hard to see.
  • No shipping time or returns policy, so buyers wait to ask.
  • A web address nobody hears about. Tell the people you already sell to.
